About the artist...
Although an artist and photographer all my life, I got sidetracked for a few years as a clinical psychologist. I am now retired from psychology to pursue my art career. My interest has always been in classic figurative art. The work in this site reflects my efforts over the past 30 years to master figurative drawing and painting.
The meaning of my work is straight forward. I am interested in the interaction of light and the human body and expression of gesture. Also, I seek to create images that have simultaneity of representational impact and, upon closer examination, abstract visual elements within the work. Almost all of my work is from a live model.
My training has been from several art departments but primarily from attending classes at the University of Mississippi.
I have exhibited in regional shows and galleries over the past decade and won a variety of awards for my work (see below).
I hope you enjoy figurative art as much as I do. The figure is timeless...
